Small and medium enterprises are just two of the Park's many successes - that was the message given to members at a special meeting of the Partnership4Learning's Employer's Club.
Held at
Southampton Science Park, the meeting provided members with an opportunity to hear about Science Parks, Incubators, and Innovation, and the
opportunities and challenges that small to medium enterprises encounter.
Don Fox, Chief Executive of
Southampton Science Park, opened the meeting with an account of the purpose and operation of the Science Park, the process of business incubation and the role of the enterprise hub in the Southampton area.
Southampton Science Park
is now recognised as a facility of regional and national importance, with more than 30 knowledge-based companies resident at the Park. The construction of the new research and development unit for Merck and the creation of the Chilworth Business Incubator are just two of the Park's many successes.
Partnership4Learning, the Southampton City Region Local Learning Partnership, set up the Employers' Club to help local companies network and expand their business opportunities. The club members share ideas, learn from each other, and collectively act as an influencing voice, ensuring that local councils and government agencies act with the needs of local companies in mind.
Angela Wright, Chief Executive of a local education and training company and Executive Officer of the club said: "The club enables small businesses to meet in their own environment, share ideas and learn from each other. In this way, they learn from those who walk the walk and not just talk the talk".
