Graduate Jobs
Southampton (GJS) held an employer lunch in
conjunction with Southampton Enterprise Hub at the
Science Park on the 13th February, 2008.
The event was a
chance for local employers to network and find out
more about how to use the GJS service for their
recruitment. After the presentations the employers
were able to network and share best practice and
recruitment needs.
Tim Tribe (pictured)
from Open Square, a specialist software house based
at the Science Park, endorsed the GJS presentation
by sharing his thoughts and positive experience of
using the service to recruit four University of
Southampton graduates.
Alongside the event
two Southampton Solent University film and
television students recorded employers’ responses to
employability issues, such as what they were looking
for in a graduate’s CV. Graduates who had found a
job through GJS were also filmed and were asked to
pass on their tips to other students. The material
from the day will be used in presentations, on the
GJS website and at other events.
GJS is planning to
run similar events in business parks across
Southampton in the near future.
