Whether its cleaning, security services
or landscaping, occupiers at Southampton Science Park can rely on Geoff
Aimson of Chilworth Services for a helping hand. Chilworth Services is
now in its 15th year and began as a start-up company which has turned
into a very successful business. Mr Aimson was once a local police
officer who retired just as Southampton Science Park was being built,
and saw an opportunity to start his own business and provide a service.
He provides back-up services for the Park and his main duties include
security, low-level maintenance, landscaping, cleaning supervision and
any other tasks required by companies on the Science Park.
Mr Aimson
lives near to the Science Park, so he is on hand if there is an
emergency. He visits the Park on weekends to ensure that the grounds are
secure and to see if there are any extra jobs that need immediate
attention. Mr Aimson employs three people in his company, all of whom
are based at Southampton Science Park where he has his own office on
site. "Without the start-up schemes and the access to business advice
that was available 15 years ago, I wouldn't have the business I have
today," said Mr Aimson. "I thoroughly enjoy my work at Southampton
Science Park and thanks to the Park, Chilworth Services is very
successful as a business."
