With an impressive career spanning over
40 years, it is clear that John Vail is no ordinary retired local
businessman. Indeed he was originally responsible for advising
Southampton University on the concept of Southampton Science Park, and
counts this as one of his greatest successes to date.
The development of
state-of-the-art business parks is something to which John Vail is no
stranger. The former senior partner with well-know local commercial
estate agents and surveyors, Vail Williams, is an undisputed expert in
the field of development consultancy, not only for his involvement with
Southampton Science Park, but also for his input into several other
major business parks in the Southern Hampshire area ... and even others
as far afield as Berlin, Leipzig, Prague and Milan.
Although retired,
John Vail retains an active interest in an investment company in the
Czech Republic and is Chairman of the Board of Governors of a school in
Andover. He lives at Upham in Hampshire with his wife, Anne. He has two
sons and a daughter and enjoys country sports and fly fishing. A former
rugby player who represented Portsmouth, Richmond and Hampshire in his
youth, he now lists his main interests as being his family and watching
rugby.
