When workers at Southampton Science Park
feel hungry, they make a wish and The Magic Jeanie Food Company appears
with baskets full of baguettes, cakes, salad bowls, drinks and many more
delights. The Magic Jeanie Food Company is a mobile sandwich service,
run by Andy Whitmill and his wife Karen, which has seen business thrive
since they started their rounds at Southampton Science Park in April
1999. They also run the local Post Office and the Chilworth Stores and
are delighted with the increase in trade brought about by the Science
Park occupiers. At present they employ one person, Nuala King, who
delivers the sandwiches to Southampton Science Park, but are hoping to
expand in the next few weeks as the demand for their products grows. "We
are renowned for our wickedly big baguettes and deep filled sandwiches,"
says owner Andy Whitmill. "Demand for our food is growing and as a
result we are hoping to expand in the very near future so we can provide
a service to people outside of the Science Park as well as those working
on site." Picture: Nuala King from The Magic Jeanie Food Company
