Ilika Technologies, the science-led
materials discovery company, has announced that it is expanding its
operations to the University of Southampton Science Park.
This expansion has been prompted by the
rapid growth of Ilika's business and the corresponding increase in
personnel. Commenting upon this development, Graeme Purdy CEO
stated, 'These are exciting times to work within the Ilika
organisation. The team is striving hard to ensure that we capitalise
upon our leading position in the field of high throughput R&D and we
are confident that there will be further growth and investment in
both our technical and commercial capability.'
Ilika Technologies is a privately
held company that was spun out of the University of Southampton in
2004. Ilika quickly established a reputation for innovation and
rapid results in the high growth industry of materials development.
The company specialises in the development and application of high
throughput, combinatorial R&D techniques for the accelerated
discovery of new materials. In particular, Ilika has the capability
to create, as well as characterise, vast numbers of inorganic
materials deposited using either physical vapour deposition or
chemical vapour deposition techniques as well as the capability to
generate and screen thousands of biocompatible polymers.
Consequently, the main markets that
Ilika has chosen to focus on include the energy, electronic and
biomedical sectors. Ilika engages with customers through research
collaborations, technology development projects and through
licensing of materials that Ilika has developed. Recent projects
include a joint development initiative with CellTran in the field of
corneal bandages and fuel cell catalyst development work for Asahi
Kasei.
