Members of the Institute of Directors
discovered that the sky really is the limit in the world of digital
broadcast technology.
The Hampshire and the Isle of Wight
members were visiting BSkyB at Southampton Science Park, a specialist
group within British Sky Broadcasting responsible for the company's TV
up-linking and satellite control operations. The Park is also home to
BSkyB's Near On Demand play-out centre and digital transmission
equipment.
The BSkyB team at Southampton Science
Park has vast experience in telecommunic-ations, TV and space technology
and as well as supporting BSkyB's own activities, they also offer their
services and experience to other organisations in satellite, ground
station and TV operations.
Don Fox, Chief Executive of Southampton
Science Park, told members of the Park's growth and development,
including the recently opened Business Incubator. "BSkyB is good news
for Southampton Science Park and the local economy, augmenting the
area's growing reputation for knowledge-based industries." |
