Stephen Davis, Director of the Southampton
Enterprise Hub (SEH) is a man with a mission.
As the driving force behind the SEEDA-funded
hub, his key role will be to ensure that technology-based businesses in
Southampton, Test Valley, Winchester, Eastleigh and the New Forest
receive the support they need to prosper.
"The South East is already the UK's
engine room for research and development - the SEH will build on this by
giving active support to knowledge-based businesses both when they start
up and as they develop," said Mr Davis.
Typically, this will involve sign-posting
businesses to support services, offering strategic advice in areas such
as funding and marketing as companies grow and liaising closely with the
University of Southampton to ensure effective transfer to industry of
relevant technologies.
"This is an exciting challenge," says
Stephen Davis. "Knowledge-based industries are vital to the future
prosperity of the region and I am looking forward to playing my part in
helping businesses to achieve their full potential."
The SEH is one of the first of 30
enterprise hubs planned by SEEDA. Each Hub is led by a Business
Champion, employs a Hub Director, contains a business "incubator" (which
is designed to nurture start up and expanding businesses) and is
affiliated to a university or research institution. Stephen Davis can be
