The
Southampton Enterprise Hub at Southampton Science Park has been
officially opened by local MP, Dr Alan Whitehead.
Launched
in conjunction with the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA),
the Hub will provide support for the south's entrepreneurs,
providing new and established organisations with access to
knowledge, investment and workspace.
The
Business Incubator is centred at the heart of the Enterprise Hub,
with tenants including spin-off companies from Southampton
University.
The
Enterprise Hub has been working closely with the University to take
advantage of its knowledge and technologies, in order to support
start-up companies in the local area.
"SEEDA
developed the Enterprise Hub initiative after drawing on the
experience of leading company incubators around the world," said
SEEDA Chairman, Alan Willet, CMG. "Southampton Enterprise Hub will
help new companies access technology, research, business support and
finance, to help them in their growth and development."
Southampton
Enterprise Hub is managed by Hub Director Steve Davies, and will
serve Southampton, Test Valley, The New Forest, Winchester and
Eastleigh, encouraging innovation and enterprise in small
businesses.
