Fibercore, the
world’s leading developer and manufacturer of
speciality optical fibres, was presented with two
Queen’s Awards on November 8th 2007 by HRH The Duke
of Kent KG at its Southampton Science Park facility.
In conjunction with the Queen’s Award for Innovation
received in 2004, Fibercore now has the distinction
of becoming the first and only company to hold
Queen’s Awards for Enterprise simultaneously in all
three categories: International Trade, Innovation
and Sustainable Development.
Becoming the first
company to hold all three awards simultaneously is a
huge honour for Fibercore as it is extremely
difficult to qualify in one, let alone all three
categories. Fibercore has managed to have strong
focus on technological advances while managing to
remain environmentally friendly, which is uncommon
in the business world. Realising the impact that
this holds for the optical fibre industry, Fibercore
also held a seminar featuring four high profile
speakers, from within the sector, the day following
the presentation. This event held added value for
those who came from overseas to attend the awards
presentation.
A key to Fibercore’s

this unique treble of three Queen’s Awards
concurrently will only fuel the company’s drive to

a seminar which was able to highlight developments
