Douglas is a business consultant, acting in an advisory capacity and as a non-executive director for companies who are encountering development or growth challenges.
Douglas’s career includes over twenty years at Paris Smith LLP where he was a Partner, heading up the company’s commercial department. He is a highly experienced corporate and commercial lawyer with significant experience in transactional work (including buying and selling companies and businesses, and the equity and debt financing of such purchases) and non-transactional work, advising on a broad range of commercial issues, such as joint ventures, corporate structuring, major trading contracts and operational finance. He is a long standing supporter of Catalyst, having provided pro bono input to various courses and workshops for several years.
For Catalyst, Douglas presently leads an annual workshop on the Power of Persuasion during which he offers guidance concerning company and commercial law issues, with particular reference to the negotiation of trading contracts and the use of standard business terms. He says: “Using well drafted terms of sale/supply and purchase is of fundamental importance to any business going into negotiations with suppliers and customers.”
