USSP Shortlisted for Most Successful Science Park Award
The University of Southampton Science Park has been judged to be one of the four most successful large science and technology parks in the UK.
The UK Science Park Association (UKSPA), which provides oversight of the critically important national innovation sector, has named Southampton Science Park alongside Cambridge Science Park, Harwell Campus Oxford, and Sci-Tech Daresbury as leaders in their field.
“I am thrilled that Southampton Science Park has been recognised as the most successful and prestigious location for science and technology businesses on the south coast by UKSPA,” commented Robin Chave, Science Park CEO.
He continued, “This news is validation of all the work that we have conducted over many years to ensure that innovators and entrepreneurs in the region are equipped to compete on the world stage without having to compromise on all the benefits and links that a south coast location offers. Our ongoing investment in superb quality offices, workshops and laboratories, business support initiatives and our ‘sector agnostic’ approach which enables innovative businesses to flourish, complement the natural diversity of our region’s commercial and academic strengths, with measurable, amplified impacts for its economy.
“My team and I look forward to celebrating with our peers around the country later this month at UKSPA’s 40th Anniversary Conference and Gala Awards.”
UKSPA is at the heart of supporting long term development within the science and innovation sector and has seen its membership grow from a handful of pioneering parks in the early 1980s to a diverse array of almost 150 member locations, which sustain around 6,000 companies employing over 120,000 people.
