Welcome Simerics

Southampton Science Park is pleased to welcome Simerics to the Engineering Centre.

Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Bellevue, Washington, Simerics harnesses the knowledge and experience of scientists and engineers who have been among the pioneers in the development and application of multipurpose computational physics since the early 1980s. Combined with advances in software engineering, the company has become a leader in fluid dynamics and heat transfer analysis simulation.

Using Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) software, Simerics technology allows manufacturers to predict how products and systems will behave under real-world conditions without building physical prototypes. These unique insights enable its clients such as Ford, General Motors, Rolls Royce, and General Electric to reduce expensive hardware testing and accelerate innovation in their marketplaces.

Simerics works across the vehicle, marine, aerospace, engine, hydraulic, compressor and turbomachinery sectors and has regional offices in Germany and India as well as its UK office here at the Science Park.

Directors Sean Horgan and Michael Clapp head up the UK operation. Director of Sales, Sean Horgan explained that they chose Southampton Science Park because it’s a fantastic area to build a new highly qualified engineering team. He said, “Due to the growth of our user base in the UK, we needed a dedicated location to provide the local support and training our clients need. The Science Park is also an ideal place for us to be able scale up as we grow.”

The Engineering Centre is a unique facility on the south coast for those working in engineering disciplines, unusually featuring a range of workshops, two of which benefit from roller shutter doors and direct vehicular access. This prestigious property set in the heart of the Science Park also offers high quality offices, laboratories, communal breakout zones, meeting spaces and a kitchen. The University of Southampton’s Future Towns Innovation Hub residency offers the potential for collaboration with academic research and expertise.
