Entrepreneurship 101

“Highly recommended - great event!”

“10/10. Thank you!”

“Extremely helpful, thank you!”

“We don't want to lose steam. Amazing. Loved it!”

Just some of the feedback received from the eclectic mix of start-up companies that were put through their paces during an Entrepreneur Bootcamp at Southampton Science Park in January.

Robin Chave, CEO of the Science Park, was pleased to welcome the select group of 15 companies to the Park for this event. “Great ideas should wait for no-one,” he said. “There’s no time like the present at Southampton Science Park, which is why I was keen to kick-start 2023 with an entrepreneurial bootcamp and I am grateful to Hampshire County Council and Test Valley Borough Council for their generous support in enabling this to happen.”

He continued: “Meeting new company founders and hearing their ideas is always an exciting prospect for all of us here at the Park, but we also know that it is a critical and valued part of expanding the region’s pipeline of successful businesses, with all the benefits that these bring to our local economy and society. I would like to thank all participants for their enthusiastic engagement and encourage them to remain part of Southampton Science Park’s thriving innovation ecosystem as they continue their business journeys.”

The idea of the Entrepreneurial Bootcamp events is to help the founders of start-ups, or those that have a concept for one, to hone their ideas and evaluate them in a supportive and collaborative innovation environment.

Through fast-paced workshops over two days, attendees have an enviable opportunity to focus on their ideas and work with some of the Science Park’s most highly experienced mentors, themselves successful entrepreneurs. The culmination of their hard work is delivering a three-minute pitch to a panel of judges, enabling them to garner insight that will help them to move forward with confidence and clarity.

Entrepreneur Bootcamps are part of a comprehensive programme of business support available at Southampton Science Park, which ranges from a varied events programme to mentoring via Enterprise M3 LEP Growth Clinics and formal coaching and membership programmes like Catalyst and SETsquared. Most programmes are fully funded and therefore free for qualifying businesses to attend.

Southampton Science Park now welcomes expressions of interest for Catalyst 2023.
