Unique Certified Sustainable Meeting Facilities

Southampton Science Park is very proud to announce that its meeting, conference and catering facilities have achieved Silver ECOsmart sustainability certification. It is one of only four Silver- certified venues in the Central South area, and the only non-hotel chain venue to have achieved this.

With this award, the Science Park’s commitment to demonstrating credible, measurable environmental responsibility across key areas such as energy use, waste reduction, ethical purchasing, and sustainable event delivery has been recognised, evaluated and validated by Greengage, a leading B Corp.

Stuart Perry, Operations Director, explains, “To achieve this certification, we were asked to report on a wide range of environmental factors, including sourcing locally, tracking energy usage, waste management, our use of recycled materials and reducing single-use packaging of course, but our assessment also considered the Park’s wider commitment to corporate social responsibility, such as our approach to transport, inclusion and diversity, and community development. As we look ahead towards achieving Gold certification, our aim is to involve and motivate staff and community more fully in championing and supporting our mid-long term sustainability goals.”

Jasmine Woodward, Conferencing and Catering Manager, added, “This certificate is particularly rewarding because the Science Park doesn’t fit the mould of a ‘traditional hospitality venue’ like hotels for whom it is their primary business. What we offer here is something quite unique: an award-winning environment set in a quiet conservation area that has innovation and entrepreneurialism following through it. Our wide range of hi-tech meeting and event facilities cater for groups of up to 200 with the benefit of easy transport access and end-to-end personal, friendly service.”
