Engineering offshore energy

Southampton Science Park welcomes Crondall Energy to the Innovation Centre.

Crondall Energy is a world-leading independent consultancy providing strategic, commercial and technical services for offshore energy projects that use floating production and subsea technologies. The company enables clients in the offshore energy industry to make sound decisions when executing deep water developments, from concept through to operations support. This focussed approach to the use of engineering addresses project risks and drives value.

In addition to consultancy services, Crondall’s wholly owned technology subsidiary, Buoyant Production Technologies, specialises in the development of compact offshore facilities for use in offshore energy projects. These include offshore wind generator substructures, offshore wind substations, and power buoy solutions for subsea tieback developments.

Earlier in 2020, the group received Acceptance in Principle from Lloyds Register for its floating normally unattended installation, and it has recently been shortlisted for two Energy Industries Council awards in the areas of energy transition and culture. It also announced that its subsea team in Aberdeen will be part of a consortium advising the UK government’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy on the development of Carbon Capture Usage and Storage.

Group Managing Director Duncan Peace commented: “We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to move to the University of Southampton Science Park, the innovation hub for the south of England. We know it is home to a host of other successful and innovative businesses and we are proud to have joined this vibrant community at such an exciting time for our own business. We are confident that this move will help propel our business forward.”

Jane Holt, Business Development Director for the Science Park, added: “We are delighted that the superb Crondall Energy team has chosen Southampton, a city long-associated with advances in marine technology, as its South of England home. I have no doubt that the company will benefit from being a part of Southampton Science Park's community at what is clearly an important stage in its development.”
