Charity Partner Celebrates Milestone
Southampton Science Park has presented the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance with a £3,500 donation towards its Operation Airbase appeal, helping the charity to exceed the halfway point in its mission to raise funds for a new airbase and head office near Southampton Airport.
Throughout the year, the Science Park team and resident company employees have generously supported this fundraising effort including enthusiastically participating in the summer sports day and BBQ.
Letoya Baptista represented the Science Park community at the charity’s gala dinner in October. Hosted by Guiness World Record holding magician Martin Rees, guests also enjoyed a phantom pianist and tribute band the Kings of Queen, while raising £16,000 towards the new airbase.
She said, “We are incredibly passionate about supporting Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. Their life-saving work makes a real difference in our community, and we feel genuinely proud to be able to contribute to such an essential and inspiring charity."
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance relies solely on donations and community support to bring highly skilled pre-hospital emergency medicine doctors and specialist paramedics to the most seriously ill and injured patients when time is critical, giving them the best chance of survival and recovery. It operates life-saving missions 365 days a year, day and night, but has just one helicopter and one rapid response vehicle to get to incidents county-wide. Its new airbase will position the whole air ambulance team in the centre of the county, improving response times when every second counts.
