Welcome Covesion
Southampton Science Park is pleased to welcome world leader in photonics, Covesion to its innovation-led community.
Covesion innovates and manufactures solutions for highly efficient non-linear frequency conversion. Offering both off-the-shelf and fully custom designs, its core periodically poled lithium niobate (MgO:PPLN) technology supports a wide variety of sectors, with applications in quantum technology, lasers and scientific instrumentation, environmental, medical and life sciences, aerospace and defence and fundamental research. Previously a University of Southampton spin-out, Covesion has grown into a dynamic UK based company and is now part of the multinational Hawthorn Photonics Group, alongside sister companies AdvR in the USA and Radiantis in Spain.
Dr Greg Blanchard-Emmerson, the company’s CEO, said, “We’re delighted to be bringing our team to Southampton Science Park to work alongside other high performing technology companies in this fantastic entrepreneurial community. When choosing a location for our second site, we were impressed by how easily accessible the Park is and the wide range of support and facilities provided here. Proximity to the University of Southampton was also a factor; we have a longstanding relationship with the University since spinning out over twenty years ago, a foundation for our success that we continue to value deeply.”
It’s a busy month for the Covesion team. Alongside moving into new offices at Science Park, the company was also selected for the UK government Department for Business and Trade Quantum Trade Mission to Singapore, and it will also be exhibiting at Frontiers in Optics / Laser Science (FiO LS) 2025 event in Denver, Colorado.
Covesion chose a ground floor office suite in Gamma House, part of the Greek Letter campus in the centre of the Science Park.
